The SQA Certificate “Introduction to the Role of the Professional Taxi and Private Hire Driver” by Flexible / Distance Learning
Logis-Tech Associates are now running the SQA Certificate “Introduction to the Role of the Professional Taxi and Private Hire Driver” course specifically for Taxi and Private hire cab and Limousine car drivers. It is delivered by on-line / distance /flexible learning and the course is at your own time and at your own pace. There is also one to one tutor support in certain areas; Glasgow. On average the full course is completed within one – two months, but in instances it can extended to 3 months to suit the learner.
It can no longer be said that to be a taxi driver you do not need any qualifications.
SQA Certificate
The Introduction to the Role of the Professional Taxi and Private Hire Driver, Certificate is a course designed to support and develop both the knowledge and the performance of new and existing taxi and private hire drivers licensed in the UK (Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland).
In some councils, within the UK, this course is now a mandatory requirement for all taxi drivers (Dundee, Glasgow, Sheffield, Guildford, etc,…).
Delivered by on-line elearning, this course can put you on the road for a successful career as a taxi driver and includes 9 SQA units. The course material can be viewed on a PC, iPad or smartphone.
GP3J 45 Certificate in Introduction to the Role of the Professional Taxi and Private Hire Driver at SCQF level 5
To attain the qualification candidates must complete 9 Units in total.
Units on the SQA Certificate include:
Unit 1: J1G9 45 Taxi and Private Hire: Workplace Health and Safety
Unit 2: J1GA 45 Taxi and Private Hire: Safely Transport Passengers
Unit 3: J1GB 45 Taxi and Private Hire: Professional Customer Service
Unit 4: J1GC 45 Taxi and Private Hire: Maintain the Safety of the Licensed Vehicle
Unit 5: J1GD 45 Taxi and Private Hire: Mobility and Wheelchair Assistance
Unit 6: J1GE 45 Taxi and Private Hire: Plan Routes and Fares
Unit 7: J1GF 45 Taxi and Private Hire: Transport Luggage and Parcels
Unit 8: J1GG 45 Taxi and Private Hire: Safely Transport School Age Children
Unit 9: J1GJ 45 Taxi and Private Hire: The Licensing Regulations (Scotland)
A-1 Technical Training, Logis-Tech (UK) is an aproved Skills Development Scotland (SDS) Learning provider. SDS, Individual Training Accounts (ITA) funding of £200 is available for those eligible. Candidates in receipt of benefits (Universal Credit, Nil income, etc,.) wishing to enter the industry and those earning less than £22,000 per annum. For self-employed drivers the evidence required is
- A copy of your Self-Assessment tax return for the last tax year
- A copy of an SA302 form issued by HMRC in regards to the last tax year
If you haven’t been trading for long enough to provide one of the above, you can provide:- A letter on headed paper from your accountant confirming your anticipated gross income.
